A familiar voice that once guided Namibians through the nation's biggest stories is now set to lead the country's public broadcaster into a new era.
The board of the NBC has announced the appointment of veteran journalist Menesia Muinjo as its new Director General, effective 1 April.
The appointment, confirmed in a media release issued on Friday, marks a milestone in Muinjo's decades-long journey within the broadcaster.
Her career began in the newsroom and has now culminated in the corporation's top leadership position.
Muinjo is no stranger to NBC audiences.
As a seasoned broadcaster and former television news anchor, she has built a reputation over more than 30 years in journalism and media leadership.
Her deep institutional knowledge stems from years spent shaping news coverage and editorial direction at the national broadcaster.
She currently serves as Chief of News and Programming, a position she assumed in September 2014. Before that, she also headed the broadcaster's commercial department.
Muinjo rose through the ranks as a news anchor and reporter, covering major national events, including assignments during the presidency of Namibia's Founding President.
Her experience on the ground and in leadership has made her one of the corporation's most recognisable and respected figures.
The NBC Board says her appointment reflects confidence in her leadership, citing her strategic insight and extensive experience in both journalism and institutional management.
The Board believes she is well positioned to steer the broadcaster through an evolving media landscape shaped by digital transformation and changing audience demands.
Throughout her tenure, Muinjo has been credited with promoting public service broadcasting values, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and driving innovation across NBC platforms.
