Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her first anniversary as head of state on Independence Day.

One of the first leaders to contact Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah upon her inauguration, Obasanjo expressed strong confidence in her leadership. 

The former Nigerian president praised President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's commitment to multilateralism as a model for others and emphasised the need to support women in leadership roles.

He says Netumbo Nandi‑Ndaitwah has the determination to take urgent action to transform Namibia, lift her people out of poverty, and lead them toward prosperity.

President Nandi‑Ndaitwah pointed out the importance of learning from the Nigerian leader and tapping into his wisdom.

She highlighted that Nigeria stood firmly with Namibia during the struggle for freedom.
