Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare on Wednesday opened the budget discussion under the committee stage, motivating the votes of the Offices of the President, the Prime Minister, the Auditor General and the National Planning Commission.

Under the Office of the President, the budget supports the protection and defence of the constitution, programme consolidation and policy coordination and support services.

"This programme has been allocated an operational budget of N$447 million to render technical support to the president and the vice president and oversight and control of the upstream oil and gas operations."

The Office of the Prime Minister was allocated an amount of over N$500 million for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

"In our search for sustainable economic growth, we must create appropriate synergies in all OMAS, SOEs, regional and local authority councils, as well as the private sector, pulling together as one unit, solely focusing on Namibia's destiny as our shared business."

The office of the auditor general received an allocation of N$133 million.

"The AG is entrusted with auditing how government institutions manage public funds; this responsibility extends beyond verifying figures; it ensures that resources are used lawfully and efficiently."

Under the vote of the National Planning Commission, macroeconomic planning, which is responsible for conducting socio-economic research, is allocated over N$15 million.

"The NPC will continuously popularise NDP6 through sector meetings to inform and encourage ownership to OMAS, formulation of the National Development Planning Framework for Namibia to guide the planning for developmental activities. And finally, the development of the National Human Resource Plan 2026-2036 to direct the country's HR demand and supply outlook. NPC will develop the National Human Resources Plan to replace the just-ended 2012-2025 plan."
