Creative industry actors walked away with awards at the Namibian Theatre and Film Awards ceremony yesterday after a six-year break.

Under the theme "A New Season: Celebrating Transition, Resilience and Growth", the awards recognised creative excellence across theatre and film.

The awards adjudicated 26 theatre productions and 45 film submissions, reviewed by independent juries.

Patrick Sam scooped the Best Production and Set Design; David Benade, for Best Sound and Stage; and Odile Gertze, for Best Actor in Theatre.

Others were Best Female Actor, awarded to Hazel Hinda; Rodelio Lewis, Best Supporting Actor; and Tsek was awarded the category of Best Web Series.

Audience choice went to Skeleton Coast. Emerging talents Laudika Hamutenya and Ethan January were honoured as best new director and actor, respectively.

Othilia Mungoba scooped the best documentary award, while veteran industry player Kulan! Ganes scooped best costume and makeup.

The awards continue to highlight Namibia's growing creative sector, acknowledging both established practitioners and rising talent.
