Sixty learners at !Guxa-eibes Primary School has received winter school uniforms through funds raised during a community fun run at Otjiwarongo.
The initiative, spearheaded by the organiser Rauna Shilunga, raised N$10,000 towards the purchase of winter uniforms as temperatures continue to drop.
The uniforms were handed over to the learners at !Guxa-eibes Primary School.
"Giving back to the community has been my dream. Last year when I celebrated my birthday, I donated sanitary pads to Karundu Junior Primary School, but I did it alone, so I thought organising a marathon run and including everyone else would help and bring more change and touch the lives of these kids," emphasised Shilunga.
The initiative highlights the role of community-driven fundraising activities in addressing the needs of vulnerable learners and promoting access to education.
Cherlon Aises is the principal of !Guxa-eibes Primary School.
"It is really a great appreciation that we could have people like Ms Shilunga that would think about little ones; it is really very difficult for me also as a principal of the school that is hosting the majority of learners who are vulnerable, who are coming from very low social backgrounds. We are grateful that we have good Samaritans that think about these ones."
