Sikosinyana Senior Secondary School has received a contribution of N$300,000 from its patron, who is also the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Ruthy Masake.

The funds, given through the assistance of the government of the People's Republic of China, will go towards the renovation of the school hostel which currently accommodates 246 learners.

The current capacity is 192.

The school principal, Harris Tuombale, stressed that the funds will go towards pressing needs.

"The reason for raising the number is because many of our learners are renting around the village, so we wanted to reduce that because these are minor learners who are coming very far to be just renting outside; that's why even our results are dropping because the attendance of those learners is a problem because a 14 or 15-year-old is renting outside. So it's a challenge, and this school accommodates almost all or receives learners from 9 schools, from Kasheshe to Masida; their grade 10 is here, so we can't again refuse the admission.”

The pump of the hostel's sewer that was installed recently by the education directorate has not addressed all concerns.

The school patron, Ruthy Masake, pledged her full commitment to supporting the school's vision to advance quality education.

“I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the government of the People's Republic of China for this generous contribution; your support is not merely an investment in infrastructure, it is an investment in the dreams, aspirations and future success of our children. The renovation will provide learners with safe confidence and a conducive environment in which to pursue their studies and achieve academic excellence.”

She encouraged learners, teachers and parents to work together as a team, as it is the only way to achieve great results.

This, she said, should be the goal, as the school has confirmed expansion to an advanced subsidiary in 2027.

The school performed poorly in the 2025 academic period, where Grade 11 learners' performance dropped from position 6 to 15 in the region.
