At 84 years old, Ester Pakarae-Kavari still shares memories from her early life, when she won the first Miss Windhoek title in 1958 at just 17 years old.
She now lives in Otjijarua, a village in the Omaheke Region, where she reflects on that experience as a young woman stepping onto a public stage for the first time. For her, it was not only about the winning crown but also about learning to believe in herself and having the courage to try something new.
With Miss Namibia now coming to Omaheke, she has a great desire to attend and watch the ladies take the stage to win the crown.
Pakarae-Kavari is encouraging the ladies to take opportunities when they come, to work hard, and not to be held back by fear. She believes that confidence grows through experience and that every person has to be willing to take that first step without knowing the outcome.
