The Environmental Investment Fund (EIF) has donated livestock feed to farmers in the Zambezi Region.
The N$500,000 worth of animal feed will support livestock farmers who were previously affected by floods, which led to the loss of animals in the floodplain constituencies of the region.
The donation was received by the Zambezi Governor, Dorothy Kabula, who described the gesture as a symbol of partnership in building resilient communities.
"Your support comes at a critical time when many of our livestock farmers are still recovering from the overwhelming floods that submerged their homes and grazing areas, which significantly affected livestock nutrition."
The EIF, with assistance from Agra, responded to a call from the regional council to help farmers who are still suffering from the effects of the floods.
The grazing area is not sufficient because many farmers have relocated to the dry land.
Chief of Human Capital and Corporate Services at the EIF, Elvis Mukaya, stated, "As the EIF, we adhere to the principle that when a community is affected by climate change or any disaster, we must engage with that issue, as it is central to our mission as the Environmental Investment Fund."
The animal feed will benefit three thousand farmers from the Kabbe North and South and Katima Rural constituencies.
