A video circulating on social media since yesterday has captured public attention, as it shows two police officers apprehending a suspect, raising questions about the level of force used during the arrest.

The ||Kharas Regional Acting Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner, Gertruida !Kharuxab, informed NBC News that preliminary findings confirmed the two officers in the video are indeed members of the Namibian Police stationed at the Gender-Based Violence Victim Protection Subdivision in Keetmanshoop.

She added that the suspect has a right to open a case against the police officers.

The suspect was wanted in connection with gender-based violence-related charges registered by his sister in June this year.

On Monday, the complainant contacted the police because the suspect allegedly troubled her again and informed them of his whereabouts.

On Tuesday, the police found the suspect, but he allegedly resisted arrest, leading to the scuffle captured in the video.

!Kharuxab said both the suspect and the two officers sustained bruises and scratches during the incident.

She further said that after being taken to the Keetmanshoop charge office, the suspect was booked and then immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
