The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has entered a new era with Dr Bryan Eiseb officially taking over as Director General on 1 October 2026.
Eiseb succeeds founding Director General Paulus Noa, who stepped down on 30 September after serving 20 years at the helm of the commission since its establishment in 2006.
In his farewell speech, Noa reflected on the challenges of building the ACC from the ground up, saying the work required patience, passion and dedication, particularly when dealing with sensitive investigations.
Noah has worked under four presidents' tenures and expressed his gratitude to all.
He thanked successive governments for the trust and support extended to the commission during his tenure. including the media for exposing corrupt individuals and activities
"Like any journey ends, my journey at ACC has come to an end. I leave ACC very proud and grateful for the achievement we have together accomplished. I stand tall because of the foundation we build together as a team. I thank our stakeholders because it was not us alone at ACC."
In his inaugural speech, Eiseb defined corruption in simple terms as "greedy individuals that steal from Namibians".
He pledged to strengthen the commission's approach to recovering proceeds linked to corruption and said the ACC would enforce a recovery framework.
Eiseb also said the commission would strengthen its reach, stressing that anti-corruption enforcement should not be confined to the capital but must reach communities across the country.
"We will strengthen the detection of corruption, illicit financial flows in the public and private sector. We will support and enhance our asset tracing and recovery and return stolen assets to the Namibian people. We will increase the conduct of parallel financial investigations. It will become the norm and not the exception. So when Mr Oberty and his colleagues investigate corruption, they will simultaneously investigate all financial aspects of those crimes and ensure that we will follow the money wherever it found itself. And ensure that with the fusion center."
Dr Eiseb joins the ACC after serving as head of the Financial Intelligence Centre.
He was nominated by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and approved by the National Assembly.
