The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's Hartklop FM radio station, under its new management, held the first-ever session to review programmes and to improve teamwork.

The session aims to build a creative team to increase the production of the radio station.

The session also discussed weaknesses, suggestions for improvement, ways to interact better with the audience, and improving communication within the workstation.

In addition, the four-day programme is to increase the employees' capabilities, outline their purposes, how to carry out the nbc's mandate and collaborate better with partners.

Hartklop FM's manager, Thea Willemse, says the team will carry out activities to build teamwork and create a conducive environment for employees. "We got a psychologist on board to assist us through the team-building process because it might get uncomfortable sometimes for us to tackle issues as a team. When we come to work, we might have some personal challenges that we struggle with, so if we could recognise that and have empathy with one another, we could just work better together. I think a happy team leads to a better team. The last review we had was in 2017 and our community has changed, so there is a need to assess, adjust, and then apply."

Also speaking at the event was Selma Niilenge, the nbc's Human Resources Business Partner, who emphasised the importance of punctuality and preparation before going on air. "Please love your work as you love yourself. Be on time. If you are punctual with work and with your time, you can not come to the studio one minute before you start the shift and you do not know where to start. At least make time to read in your schedule what you have prepared for yourself before you go on air, so you know what you are going to do."
