Pedel Tennis has made its debut in Namibia, introducing a dynamic new sport that combines elements of traditional tennis with a unique pedal-powered twist. 

Pedal tennis, a sport that originated in Mexico over two decades ago and has spread throughout Europe, was introduced in Namibia in April this year.

UNDP's Resident Representative to Namibia, Alka Bhatia, says that the organisation recognises the vital role that small-scale mining plays in Namibia's economy.

According to recent data, small-scale mining contributes significantly to the local economy, providing income for over 10,000 households.

Fishing company Deepsea Consolidated Investment has committed N$1.2 million in aid to support 10,000 Namibian households affected by severe drought conditions.

Today, they donated 6 metric tonnes of salt-dried fish to the drought relief efforts.

Efforts to address the scourge of gender-based violence in Namibia will require collaboration to bring health services closer to those who need them the most.

This is particularly the case for women and girls who have endured trauma and indignity as a result of violence.
