AU Commission Chair highlights progress, challenges, and calls for unity on Africa Day

To mark the celebration of Africa Day, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has reflected on Africa's journey from 1963 to 2024, celebrating milestones like liberation from colonialism and apartheid and economic growth. 

He also addressed ongoing challenges such as demographic pressures, social constraints, climate change, and governance issues. 

He highlighted the role of youth and women in shaping the future, called for mobilisation to tackle crises, and promoted peace and security.

PDM's Diederik Vries calls for inclusive approach in Namibia's resettlement polic

The Resettlement Policy should aim to improve the lives of landless or disadvantaged Namibians and be inclusive, irrespective of people's economic and social status.

These were the sentiments of the Popular Democratic Movement's (PDM) Diederik Vries in his contribution to the National Resettlement Policy under the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform.

The general eligibility criteria for potential beneficiaries of resettlement is the requirement to have resource ownership and access to capital.
