Role players and stakeholders in Namibia's gambling industry regulation gathered in Swakopmund to review the country's gambling strategy.

The discussions centred on boosting revenue, tightening regulation, and protecting vulnerable communities from the social harms of gambling.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Inge Zaamwani, has said any individual who wishes to practise must be duly registered with the Veterinary Council of Namibia.

Key stakeholders in the cultural and creative industries highlighted the urgent need for commercialisation, stressing the urgency for proper prioritisation under appropriate regulatory and governing bodies. 

Health and Social Services Minister Dr. Esperance Luvindao has announced that Namibia will move towards regulatory approval for the rollout of Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly injection for the treatment and prevention of HIV.

The regulation of private schools and the involvement of non-governmental entities in education have recently faced scrutiny. 

MP Hidipo Hamata of the Popular Democratic Movement has tabled a motion calling for a review of the current regulatory framework.
