Namibia commemorates World Environment Day

The City of Windhoek (CoW) commemorated World Environment Day, dedicated to raising awareness and calling for action to protect and preserve the planet.

This year, the focus was on finding solutions to plastic pollution and reminding everyone that taking action on plastic matters.

ECN confirms candidates for Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has confirmed the shortlisting of five candidates for the position of Chief Electoral and Referenda Officer.

The Commission's Manager for Corporate Communications and Marketing, Siluka De Wet, announced the ECN received 12 applications.

Jacob Nangolo "Kaherero" buried

Swapo Party veteran Jacob Nangolo, well known as "Kaherero", was buried at Omonawatjihozu Village at the ELCIN Church Cemetery in the Omusati Region.


Mourners gathered in Ongolonongeyama Village for a memorial service to pay tribute to the late Jacob Nangolo, who died on May 24.

28 NDF senior officers graduate from the Namibia Command and Staff College

The Namibia Command and Staff College in Okahandja graduated 28 senior officers from the Namibia Defence Force (NDF), including two allied students from Zambia.

The senior officials graduated from the Senior Command and Staff Course, the highest qualification currently being offered by the college.

16 Shishugho family members married

The 16 deceased members of the Shishugho family were buried today at Kayova Village in Kavango East's Ndiyona Constituency.

A large number of mourners from the region and beyond gathered to pay their last respects.
