The Indian Navy ship, INS Tarkash, is visiting the port of Walvis Bay with the purpose of further strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Namibia. 

Four fishing companies at Walvis Bay have taken legal action against workers, who allegedly, unlawfully left their jobs in August.

The Namibia Fishing Industries and Fishermen's Union has accused Cavema fishing of unlawfully dismissing workers.

The union says the Walvis Bay-based company disregarded the recognition agreement signed with the workers.

Disgruntled workers protested at Walvis Bay to express their unhappiness.

A programme aimed at equipping community members with firefighting skills will take place at Walvis Bay in the Erongo Region next week.
