Zambezi Regional Governor Dorothy Kabula has called on Namibians to embrace a culture of prayer, peace and love to address challenges facing communities.

The Anglican Church in Namibia's Bishop Patrick Djuulume said the late retired Bishop Luke Pato was an international figure whose legacy was rooted in justice, reconciliation and peace.

Pato died in South Africa on the 6th of September.

The Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Namibia, Christian Katoto, joined Congolese in Namibia to pray and commemorate the National Day of Genocide.

Thousands of Congolese were killed and buried in mass graves since 1996 in what is known as 30 years of bloodshed in Eastern Congo.

 As Namibia celebrates its 36th Independence celebrations, Zambia's founding President Kenneth Kaunda's son Kaweche has cautioned Namibians not to fall into the trap of division. 

Namibia represents a sign of hope for human security because of its values of peace and diversity.

These sentiments were shared by the Executive Director at the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Yoichi Mine, during a public lecture at the University of Namibia.
