1.6 million SIM cards have been registered across the country as of last month. 

Individuals who have not yet registered their cards are given a 15-day window to do so.

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) said it has nothing to do with the suspension of New Era Managing Editor Johnathan Beukes, who was suspended on Friday following a Judicial Service Commission article that allegedly lacked transparency.

Some residents of Gobabis are demanding the suspension of municipal workers who are allegedly implicated in corrupt activities without pay.

A court order issued last month indicated that eight employees who were suspended two years ago must be reinstated because they were suspended unprocedurally.

The Otjikoto B2Gold Mine, situated outside Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region, on Tuesday, confirmed the suspension of its more than 160 workers, who allegedly took part in an illegal work stoppage at the mine. 

The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has suspended Vabiola Aobes and Eugene Smith who are implicated in defrauding the Fund of over N$17 million.

The two are accused of forging bank confirmation letters for orphaned beneficiaries.
