The nbc's former Head of News and Current Affairs, Claudie Ikela, says Namibia should take the momentum from Founding President Sam Nujoma's ideologies and reach for greater heights as a nation.
Ikela was privileged to interact with the late Nujoma on numerous occasions during her career.
Like most Namibians who have interacted with the late Founding President, Ikela says she is happy to have had the opportunity to drink from his rich fountain of wisdom.
Humble, selfless, and a tactician of note, Nujoma was a leader who loved to ensure Namibians, especially women, were well taken care of.
She recalls a day when Nujoma called her, along with others, to set up a goat farm and mahangu plantation at Tsumkwe to inspire locals in the direction of farming.
Ikela remembers Nujoma as a champion of media freedom and an advocate for local content on public platforms, even though international programming has historically been cheaper to acquire than local.
She implores Namibians to emulate his good deeds and to ensure they continue to celebrate his legacy whilst keeping his teaching in whatever they do.
Amongst his other unparalleled qualities was that he was a giving person and one who loved to see the ordinary Namibian child go to school.
