Kambinda Boxing Promotion has officially lodged a complaint following a contentious fight result at the Nestor Tobias Boxing Bonanza, held on April 12th at the Windhoek Showground Hall.
The high-profile event, hosted by Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, was staged in honor of Namibia’s late Founding Father, Dr. Sam Nujoma. However, the focus quickly shifted from celebration to controversy after the four-round bout between Erkkie Erkkie and Jonathan Kasheeta ended in a disputed decision.
Lukas Simon, representing Kambinda Boxing Promotion, has filed a formal protest with the Namibia Boxing Control Board, now chaired by Armas Shivute. According to Simon, Erkkie convincingly won three out of the four rounds, yet the judges declared Kasheeta the winner—leaving fans and the Kambinda camp shocked.
“The crowd was clearly unhappy,” Simon stated. “You could hear the outrage immediately after the result was read. We believe this was a robbery and demand clarity.”
Kambinda Promotion submitted their complaint on April 15th, seeking an explanation for the judges’ scoring and calling for accountability and transparency in officiating.
When contacted by NBC Sport, Boxing Control Board Chairperson Armas Shivute confirmed receipt of the complaint and assured that the board would review and analyze the matter thoroughly.
Simon wrapped up his remarks by stressing that boxing is one of Namibia’s most loved sports, and as such, must be governed with fairness, integrity, and respect for all stables involved.
As the boxing community awaits the board’s response, the outcome of this complaint could set a significant precedent for how controversial decisions are addressed in Namibian boxing.
