The Etayi Constituency Councillor’s Office has donated gardening materials worth N$39,000 to Unity Garden Investment, a youth-led horticultural project based in Oheke village.
The support package includes a 5,000-litre water tank, a water pump, fencing wire, metal posts, and bags of cement, all essential tools to boost agricultural productivity and sustainability for the community project.
Unity Garden Investment is spearheaded by Johannes Kandjimwena and focuses on producing fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, spinach, and cabbages in the heart of Oheke village.
“This initiative forms part of the Rural Employment Scheme, where we provide materials to community members, particularly youth and women,” said Etayi Constituency Councillor Hans Haikali. “The main goal is to uplift the living standards of young people and women in the Omusati Region, and specifically in Etayi. We advertise these opportunities through radio, notice boards, and WhatsApp groups. I encourage all young people to take advantage and apply.”
Expressing his gratitude, Kandjimwena said: “I want to promise the nation that I will work hard to eradicate hunger in our country, especially through agricultural production.”
Other community initiatives that have benefited from the scheme include Nakalemba Poultry Farming at Oshikuyu village, Opawa Bakery, and Medusalem Gardening at Ohongo and Enoleu villages.
