President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appealed to Namibians to reward mothers with protection, love and compassion.

The President made the appeal against the backdrop of the observance of Mother’s Day on May 11th.

She says mothers generously extend acts of protection, love, and compassion both individually and to the nation at large.

In a statement, Nandi-Ndaitwah said, “Today is a day of love and giving to our mothers as anchors of our families. However, it is also a call to action to value mothers and to protect them against all forms of gender-based violence, which has the potential to erode the social fabric of our society.”

She added that her administration “will spare no effort to strengthen initiatives that guarantee the health and safety of mothers, including the child”.
