The Khomasdal Constituency has handed over equipment and materials worth N$250,000 to 21 SME beneficiaries in Windhoek.
During the handover, Khomasdal Councillor Samuel Angolo reminded beneficiaries of the role they play as SMEs in their communities, saying they are a catalyst of local development.
Of the 21 beneficiaries, there are four men and 16 women, who expressed joy for the donation.
Among them was Justina Namhadi, who has been in the beauty industry since 2020, and Rauna Kapapu, who has been doing catering for the past seven years.
During the handover, Councillor Angolo urged the beneficiaries not to let the tools gather dust in storage but rather to put them to use.
"We expect accountability, hard work and a return on his investment through job creation, improved incomes, and positive community impact. Let these tools not gather dust in storage but rather be put to productive use every single day."
The Executive Director of Omasa-Omanene Community Foundation, Maggie Katjie, urged the beneficiaries to sign up for financial literacy training.
The equipment and material handover are part of the Khomas Regional Council's Income Generating Activities Programme, and as part of the Council's commitment, it allocated N$2.5 million to its 10 constituencies for this programme this financial year.
