1,780 police cadet constables from the Police Basic Training Intake 1/2024-2025 are expected to graduate on Friday at Oshakati.

The graduates will be officially recognised for completing a nine-month basic police training course, which started in August 2024.

An elaborate graduation week started with a series of street processions, with the first one starting at Oluno Total Service Station and proceeding to the NORED office in town.

It was during that procession when Police Chief Joseph Shikongo had a brief talk with onlookers who arrived in large numbers to witness the colourful and entertaining drilling display.

The procession is meant to build up to the big day, which is expected to attract about 10,000 people.

Similar processions are scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Ongwediva and Oshakati to show the community how prepared the police recruits are and to invite the nation to join on the main day on Friday.
