President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on Namibia’s regional governors to be unifying figures in their communities and to strengthen collaboration with local stakeholders.

 Speaking at the opening of a two-day induction workshop underway in Windhoek, the President emphasized the importance of unity, service delivery, and timely communication.

"When our communities are united, our country is strengthened. I implore you to promote the spirit of One Namibia, One Nation and pursue unity of purpose," she said.

She reminded the governors of the words of Namibia’s founding president, Sam Nujoma:

 "People united, striving for a common good for the good of the whole society, will always emerge victorious."

 The President urged the governors to engage with traditional leaders, youth, and business sectors in their regions to drive inclusive development.

She acknowledged challenges facing the governors’ offices but assured them of support from the Office of the Prime Minister. "I am fully aware of the challenges you are facing. The Right Hon. Prime Minister reaffirmed to me that he is already working on the structures of the governors' offices so they can do better than before."

Governors are required to submit regular reports detailing their activities, development progress, and challenges. These reports, she said, must be submitted on time to ensure effective communication and accountability. "To ensure that nothing is left to chance, the Senior Presidential Advisor, Comrade Christine ||Hoebes, will serve as the designated channel through which reports are to be directed in a timely manner."

The President also addressed existing communication breakdowns between governors and ministries, noting that a focal point will be created at the State House to improve coordination.

"If there is anything required from ministries, the two Executive Directors will communicate to ensure that communication is done very fast," she said.
