The Namibia Gospel Music Awards (NGOMA) will host its annual awards ceremony on 3 October.

After a seven-year hiatus, the awards are returning for their third edition. The event will be held at the University of Namibia School of Medicine.

NGOMA Chairperson Shalongo Mwandingi said the awards aim to recognise gospel artists from across Namibia. He also thanked the sponsors for supporting the initiative.

The National Arts Council of Namibia is the main sponsor and has contributed N$75,000 towards this year’s awards.

Mwandingi said the awards feature several categories, with the two main categories being Best Female Gospel Artist of the Year and Best Male Gospel Artist of the Year.

Gretta Gaspar, an administrator at the National Arts Council of Namibia, said the government entity is committed to funding and supporting the creative industry to help it grow. She urged more creatives to come forward.
