Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and the Chairperson of the National Council Lukas Muha will lead Namibia’s delegation to a global conference of parliamentary leaders in Geneva, Switzerland, from the 29th to the 31st of July 2025.

The sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in partnership with the United Nations, will focus on the role of parliaments in promoting peace, justice, and international cooperation under the theme “A world in turmoil.”

The meeting will bring together presiding officers from across the world and is expected to adopt a joint declaration on multilateral action by parliaments.

Namibia will also take part in the 15th summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, aimed at strengthening women’s leadership in advancing inclusive and lasting peace.

The Speaker and Chairperson will be joined by MPs Sharonice Busch, Martha Itope, and Bertha Nghifikwa, who are also expected to participate in the debates.
