The Ministry of Health and Social Services has denied allegations of negligence related to the death of a two-month-old baby from Gainachas village in the ||Kharas Region.

The denial follows a social media post circulated on Monday in which the infant’s father claimed that the baby was taken to Berseba Clinic on three separate occasions but received no medical assistance and subsequently died.

In a statement, the ministry expressed understanding of the family’s pain and frustration but said claims of negligence or causality are not proven.

It further stated that a post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The ministry noted that the infant died at home after the mother reported to a nurse that he was unresponsive; he was confirmed dead before arriving at any health facility.

The Berseba Clinic, the ministry added, was notified and subsequently transported the body to the Keetmanshoop mortuary.

According to the ministry, the infant was delivered at home on 5 May 2025. Following his birth, the infant received 6- and 10-week immunisations without any adverse reactions.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to empathy, transparency, and efficacy in providing continuous equitable health services to the public.
