In a significant boost to digital education in northern Namibia, Spreader Fishing handed over ICT equipment to schools in the Kunene Region.
The donation includes seven pairs of ICT equipment and is set to benefit seven schools in the Kunene, Omusati and Ohangwena regions.
Out of the schools identified in Kunene, three were specifically highlighted for immediate support due to the pressing challenges faced in their area.
These schools are Otjerunda Combined School, Braunfels Senior Secondary School, and Musaso Combined School.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts, and Culture, Dino Balloti, encouraged the learners to shape their own destinies, while he commended Spreader Fishing for contributing to transforming the education sector.
"Spreader Fishing has set a powerful example of what is possible when the private sector partners with government in the spirit of nation-building. I therefore make a clarion call to all of our stakeholders, specifically the private sector, development partners, NGOs, and the members of the diaspora, to come on board and emulate what Spreader Fishing has decided to do today."
Kunene Governor Vepuakuje Muharukua encouraged learners and teachers alike to dream of a better future for Otjerunda and the broader region through nurturing a reading habit.
"How do we do that as learners, as students, as teachers? It's by reading. Therefore, my brief message to the children, teachers, and learners of Otjerunda Combined School is: "Let's dream, and through our dreams, we should envision the things we can achieve for ourselves by reading."
Spreader Fishing Chairperson Silas Iipumbu stated that the donation was not just part of their Corporate Social Responsibility but is considered a full-on investment.
"It is an investment in the minds and dreams of thousands of learners and educators across the region. This equipment will transform classrooms into hubs of innovation, creativity, and digital literacy. Teachers will be in a better position, equipped to inspire, and students will be better prepared to thrive in a rapidly evolving world."
School board member Ruvezoruua Katundu applauded the company on behalf of the beneficiaries.
"Truly, these things are rare to come by in the land. If you receive this equipment, please refrain from playing with it. You have to use them for your education. You have to use them in such a way that they do not break or become lost so that they can be used by future generations."
