Namibia's High Commissioner to Zambia, Goms Menette, says the influx of students studying in Zambia demonstrates the historical friendship that exists between the two sister countries.
Speaking when he addressed Namibian students studying in that country, Menette told the gathering to represent the country with pride and dignity.
The event was more than a meet and greet, as it was also time to eat and drink.
The diplomat had very short speeches; the rest of the time was for interactions, including the question and answer session when the NBC crew was excused for the audience to freely express themselves.
Menette was not the only speaker, as the Namibian Police Attaché to Zambia, Commissioner Petrus Amadhila, also addressed the students.
"One of my mandates as a police attaché here in Zambia is to observe the affairs or the well-being of Namibian students here in Zambia, so the first thing is that I want you to know me in person, and I will also share with everybody my contact details so that in case of any situation, I am more than ready to assist. That's the reason why I was sent here."
Individually greeting the students, High Commissioner Menette delivered his speech before inviting the students for a meal.
"Namibia and Zambia share a long-standing relationship between them that has been built directly on close cooperation. The two countries have supported each other in many aspects, including the field of education. It's therefore encouraging to see Namibian students continue strengthening these people-to-people connections through the studies and everyday interaction. You represent the future of Namibia."
Menette also announced that this year, they will host Independence celebrations for all Namibians currently domiciled in Zambia.
