An event aimed at supporting the upcoming Mega Hackathon, under the recently launched Comprehensive Digital Strategy, gathered a range of contributions from participants, including both financial and non-monetary pledges.
The initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology aims to drive innovation and digital transformation.
The broader goal of the Comprehensive Digital Strategy seeks to leverage technology to accelerate economic growth and achieve broader social goals.
It focuses on integrating digital tools across sectors, developing digital skills and fostering innovation to improve public services, stimulate the economy and promote social inclusion.
"Engagement marks the first step and provides an opportunity for all of us to plant a seed in order to realise the hosting of the Mega Hackathon. Our mission is to empower youth through granting them opportunities to build solutions that solve real-life challenges, simplify citizen access to essential services, digitalise the government services, and drive inclusive innovation," says the Minister of ICT, Emma Theofelus.
Funds raised will provide participants with essential tools, mentorship and resources, helping to turn innovative ideas into impactful, real-world solutions.
The Mega Hackathon is scheduled to take place on the 15th of October and will bring together innovators, students and graduates to design digital solutions that address national challenges while improving the efficiency, transparency and accessibility of government services.
Everyone is invited to pledge, whether in kind or in monetary form.
