Information and Communication Technology Minister Emma Theofelus has reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting education initiatives, investing in infrastructure and providing the necessary resources to ensure no child is left behind.

Theofelus gave reassurance of the government's commitment to education at the inauguration of two new blocks of classrooms at Dr Nangolo Mbumba Combined School in the Okongo Constituency.

Theofelus also commended the Ohangwena Education Directorate for their relentless dedication to providing every child with access to quality education, even in the face of significant challenges affecting schools and communities in the region.

"I am happy that the learning objectives of our children are met with the building of these classroom blocks, and I am happy to learn through the directorate of education that when finances are available, they expand classrooms and infrastructure for children of not only this area but children across the country."

She urged the community of Omboloka and citizens to remain patient as the government continues to address their needs and implement initiatives aimed at improving education and public services.

Theofelus underscored the importance of collective effort between the government, local leaders and communities to secure a brighter future for Namibian children.

"Services cannot all be put at one place at once, but I can assure you that the commitment of the Government under the leadership of our able president, Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, is there; the political will is there to ensure that all the services for our Namibian people are there."

Situated east of Okongo at Omboloka Village, the school has an enrolment of more than 900 learners from pre-primary level until grade 11, with thirty teachers.

The community hostel, accommodates about 100 learners, mainly from the marginalised community.

Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa urged learners and the community of Omboloka to guard the infrastructure against vandalism.

“We should take care of these classrooms so that when this group is complete, the next generation will be able to use the same classrooms. The government is putting in efforts; however, the country is big, and those that need education are many,” Hamutumwa added.
