The Universal Church held a march against suicide aimed at raising awareness and addressing mental health issues faced by men and women.

Namibia ranks as one of the countries in Africa with the highest suicide rates, with over 80% being males.

Contributing factors include financial hardship, lack of support systems, substance abuse and mental health conditions.

Hundreds of people joined the suicide march, chanting songs of hope, empowerment, and encouragement.

Co-ordinator of the Victory Youth Group, Billy Hoaseb, said silence is never the answer when times get tough.

Hoaseb is urging those suffering from depression and mental health issues to seek help from loved ones or reach out to other organisations and churches.

The Universal Church will be hosting an event on the 20th of September at the Katutura Youth Arena featuring motivational speeches and entertainment.
