Residents of Aminuis in the Omaheke Region gathered on Sunday to pay tribute to the late Headman Petrus Mbaha, who died three decades ago.
The late Mbaha, who was described as a dedicated visionary and pathfinder, took over the leadership reins of the Aminuis area from the late Paramount Chief Hosea Kutako in 1970 until he died in 1994.
The Aminius resident and organiser of the remembrance event, Obeth Kandjoze, described the late Headman Petrus Mbaha as someone who led the Aminuis area with honour since his time working closely with the late Ombara Hosea Kutako in various development-related matters.
Kandjoze added that the late Mbaha always stood by his decisions without hesitation, and his village served as a conduit for past freedom fighters who exited the country via Botswana.
The family say the remembrance event will be marked annually.
