NFA President Robert Shimooshili was among those impressed, expressing his hope for more sporting events to be held at the stadium in the future.
The tournament was a weekend highlight, attracting over 30 teams from across the country. The new stadium and its high-standard facilities, which made players and supporters feel safe and welcome, were a major reason for the event's success.
Although upgrades are still ongoing, the stadium's quality has set a precedent as one of the best sports facilities in the village of Onamla, within the Okatana Constituency.
Following the final match on Sunday, NBC Sport spoke with NFA President Robert Shimooshili, who was pleased with the tournament's smooth conclusion and the teams' performances.
SB: Robert Shimooshili "We are happy that the competition came to a successful end with no violence reported. As football people, we appreciate that. We also saw a very serious competition from both top-tier and lower-league players; they are doing a good job by competing to the best of their ability." OUT
Shimooshili also thanked the Taute Cup Committee for allowing numerous SMEs to participate and sell their products. He promised that more sports will be added to future tournaments.
SB: "The economy has grown in the area due to the participation of local entrepreneurs, as well as small, medium, and large businesses, and that's what we want. We in the sports community, particularly football, must contribute to economic growth to help our government fight poverty and hunger. The unity has also been high and has been present for the past three days we have been here." "We are looking into boxing, athletics, and horse racing; those are the three sports codes in the pipeline." OUT
Onamungudo Lions FC were crowned champions of the 12th Taute Cup Annual Sport Tournament, defeating Nelundu United with a dominant 4-1 score.
