The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), in collaboration with indigenous communities and international stakeholders, celebrated the Ecology Custodian Day.
The day is aimed at sharing indigenous knowledge about environmental resilience, sustainable land and wildlife management, and ways indigenous peoples have long been stewards of the land.
The day brought over 30 representatives from indigenous communities across many countries, such as Brazil, Malaysia, Canada, Mexico, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Namibia, to learn about different ecosystems, challenges, and solutions.
The day is also meant to explore digital transformation and how technology, digital tools, and innovation can help indigenous communities preserve wisdom, adapt sustainably, and share knowledge.
