The Swapo Party candidate for the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections in Kongola Constituency has vowed to empower the youth and develop natural resources into fuel for economic development.

Mutelo was introduced to voters at Kongola in the Zambezi Region on Sunday.

He said his focus will be on developing business and the economy, particularly through adding value to the area's abundant natural resources.

"The focus will be more on business development, so my intention is to empower the youth to benefit from natural resources through businesses using existing government programmes."

The Swapo Party Elders Council member in the Zambezi Region, Patrick Mwampole, introduced Mutelo, encouraging him to be a servant of the people of Kongola Constituency.

He urged him not to serve his own personal interests.

Marking the start of the Swapo Party's campaign in Kongola Constituency, Mwampole called on residents to vote for the party's candidate in the regional and local authority elections come 26 November.

Mwampole reminded Kongola voters of the crucial role their area played during the nation's struggle for independence.

He said many residents of Kongola crossed into Zambia to join the liberation struggle after the area became a war zone, urging them thus to remain loyal to Swapo.
