The new clinic in Mabushe village, located in the Kavango East Region, is nearing completion.
The construction of this new facility was necessitated by flooding at the current clinic during the rainy season, which likely caused major problems with healthcare delivery.
The community also donated land, which helped move the health facility away from flood-prone areas.
Once finished, the new clinic will improve healthcare for local residents and provide much-needed relief.
In response to questions forwarded to the director of health for the Kavango East region, Ida Mendai said the clinic is about 95% complete, with just a few final touches remaining, including electrification, before it can open.
The project also includes staff housing and a borehole for water.
Since 2009, flooding has damaged the old clinic, causing cracks in the walls.
During the rainy season, villagers often have to travel to Nyangana District Hospital or the Rundu Intermediate Hospital for medical attention.
Mabushe Clinic serves six villages: Rujarara, Shavivare, Neyuva, Shikenge, Mauvara, and Karanawa, including some residents from nearby Angola.
