President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said education should not only help individuals but also help the country's growth.
She said this in a speech read on her behalf by the Prime Minister, Elijah Ngurare during the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) 10th graduation ceremony on Friday.
The president encouraged graduates to use their knowledge and creativity to make a positive difference in society.
"It is through education that we transform lives, communities, and nations. Your success today is a symbol of what is possible when we invest in our young people, and it is a reminder that education is not only about personal gain but about contributing to the collective progress of society, " she remarked.
Over 850 students graduated in a special ceremony that celebrated NUST's 10-year journey of growth and success.
The atmosphere at NUST was charged with happy faces and pride as hundreds of students walked across the stage to receive their qualifications.
Together with the May graduates, NUST has produced over 3,500 graduates this year, marking it the highest number in its history.
Graduates received qualifications in a wide range of fields, such as computer science, journalism, civil engineering, health sciences, agriculture, business management, entrepreneurship, education, and public administration.
A businessman from Oshakati, Bernhard Zaaruka, known for his philanthropy and involvement in community development, job creation and investment in infrastructure, was conferred an honorary doctorate of philosophy in entrepreneurship.
Zaaruka had a word of advice for the graduates.
"You must continue to write. This means do not believe in the lie that it's too late to make it. You don't even hear that," he said.
The Deputy Chairperson of the NUST's Interim Council, Nora Ndopu, says the celebration stands as a reminder that education continues to shape the society and the nation at large.
