First Gentleman Epaphras Ndaitwah says a leader should have the expertise necessary to lead others successfully.
During his public lecture on strategic leadership and management at the José Eduardo dos Santos Campus in Ongwediva, Oshana Region, the First Gentleman asserted that an effective leader is forward-thinking, innovative, and proactive.
According to Ndaitwah, a leader should have the capability to inspire others and must develop strategic competence. A leader should generate ideas that help develop others and formulate focused strategies.
Ndaitwah further stated that a leader must be able to listen and observe, apply expertise, act professionally, and make informed decisions.
He emphasised that leaders should be capable of transforming the organisations they lead and that visionary leaders must create a conducive working environment for their teams.
Both leaders and managers are essential to the effective functioning of any organisation, he added, saying that every leadership position carries a price tag.
Speaking at the same event, Oshana Governor Hofni Iipinge says leadership is a foundation of inclusive growth.
