President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has returned to Namibia from Johannesburg, South Africa, where she attended the G20 Summit as an invited guest of South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah landed at the Keetmanshoop Airport.

She was received by Vice President Lucia Witbooi and a delegation before proceeding to the Kronlein Stadium for her scheduled star rally.

The President said Namibia's presence at the summit was significant for the country.

"First, I think Namibians know that Namibians are not a member of the G20, and Namibia was invited by President Ramaphosa, as the chair of the G20, to be part of the meeting which concluded today, which is really an honour because one thing we really want to thank the South Africans for during their chairmanship of the G20 is that they made sure Africa was part of their agenda of the G20 and a grouping of countries to have differences in financial institutions or funding for military programmes, and now it is reformed not just to be a group to have the finances but to consider developmental agendas."

The President added that the leaders deliberated on global development priorities, guided by the United Nations principle of "Leaving no one behind".

Key issues include food security, natural resource beneficiation and climate change.
