A 28-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly killing his pregnant wife during a domestic dispute at Toyota Village in the Tondoro Constituency of the Kavango West Region.
The Namibian Police Force’s spokesperson for the Kavango West Region, Inspector Raimbert Muronga, reported that 26-year-old Nanguroni Hausona died on the spot after her husband allegedly struck her on the head with burning firewood and assaulted her during an argument around 20h30 on Tuesday.
Both the suspect and the victim were reportedly under the influence of alcohol when the fatal assault occurred.
The deceased, who was pregnant at the time of her death, sustained severe injuries in the attack. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Muronga confirmed that the suspect was immediately arrested following the incident and that the victim's next of kin have been informed of her death.
Police investigations into the matter continue, and the suspect is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court this week.
