Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has announced a sponsorship of N$1-million to the popular Windhoek youth event, Kasi Vibe festival for the next 3 years.
The festival, which offers a platform for Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SMEs) to showcase and market their goods and services to the public, was first hosted in 2017.
Announcing the sponsorship, MTC's Chief Brand, Marketing, Communication and Sustainability Officer Tim Ekandjo said they hope to multiply the festival through both entertainment and excitement by at least 3 times, with new location and youth entepreneurship to boost SMEs development.
"MTC loves the kasi we are from the kasi we will always be from the kasi that is why we have joined hands with the Kasi Vibe to make this the MTC Kasi Vibe. So we're very excited. We are looking forward to a great partnership. Our commitment per annum is going to be N$1 million. So you're going to see great stages, great performances, you are going to see a much better organization and we are not saying that they were not organized."
The 2025 edition of the festival was postponed to 2026 to allow them time for extensive research and planning.
"We have revamped a new structure. A new strategy for the MTC Kasi Vibe which will be taking place in August and you might be wondering why are we launching it now, because there is going to be a lot of planning that goes into it, so the Kasi Vibe now has a new family called MTC and by extension the is only one Nation so we are encouraging and inviting all Namibians to come to the 2026 MTC Casi Vibe and for the media, we don't want to hear you write Kasi Vibe anymore. Names are very, very important so it is the MTC Kasi Vibe."
The Co-Founder of MTC Kasi Vibe, Salmi Shigwedha said their focus has always been in Windhoek, however if the opportunity to venture within the rest of the country presents itself, they would expand.
"Together we will build a platform that is bigger, bolder and more inclusive than ever before. To MTC, thank you for believing in our vision, for choosing to walk this journey with us and for helping us take the next step in shaping what the MTC Kasi Vibe Festival will become. Your support is not just financial, it's transformational. We are upon it, humble and definitely inspired."
The Kasi Vibe festival will now be known as the MTC Kasi Vibe festival.
