Namibia's first National Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy aims to nurture, develop, and celebrate artists, cultural practitioners, institutions, and creative entrepreneurs.

This was the message relayed during the official launch of said strategy, for the period 2025 to 2030.

The untapped potential of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) in the country is finally receiving the recognition it deserves.

The National Cultural and Creative Industries Strategy aims to strengthen cultural governance and strategically position Namibia's CCI sector as a vital contributor to national development; to be prioritised as contemporary artistic and creative expressions, along with simultaneous improvement in trade facilitation through exports and the celebration of Namibian talent.

Further, the strategy would look to recognize culture and creativity as a form of national capital.

CCI National Expert, Patrick Sam commended the move.

During the launch, the Namibia Cultural and Creative Industry Council, comprising a range of experts, was introduced—along with the work of the multi-sector advisory board to provide strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight during the strategy's implementation.

Arts Director in the Arts & Culture Ministry, M'kariko Amagulu explained the Council’s role.

"Creativity remains a key driver of inclusive growth and social cohesion. Importantly, the Council will lead the realization of the NAMICIA Creative Industries Awards, the EMR, which will be launched in 2026 and should be realized by 2027. It is a flagship, national initiative to recognize, celebrate, and promote excellence and innovation within NAMICIA's diverse creative and cultural landscape."

A week-long sector-specific consultation session will take place at the National Theatre of Namibia and the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre.
