Outjo Magistrate Elphins Maloboka has denied bail to three accused persons in the murder of 21-year-old Florencia Jakobs, whose body was found dumped naked and head severely smashed alongside a church fence on 31 January 2026 in Outjo.
The suspects, Petrus Tsauseb, Germanus Oreseb, and Theodor Tjikongo, have been remanded in custody, and the case has been postponed to 18 June.
They were arrested and charged on 24 February after one of the accused confessed to a family member about the crime and subsequently handed himself over to the police.
Public Prosecutor Vanessa Sinvula requested the court against bail on grounds of incomplete investigations, seriousness and severity of the matters, public interest and interest of justice, and risk of accused persons interfering with investigations.
Prior to the first appearance of the three men, community members under the banner of the Outjo Constituency Youth Forum marched in numbers to the court to demand justice prevail in the matter.
Group spokesperson Densty Narib said the community is fed up with escalating crimes of gender-based violence in the town.
“Gender-based violence continues to destroy families and communities across our nation. If we are serious about ending this crisis, then the justice system must send a clear message: violence against women will not be tolerated.”
