ECN optimistic on reaching GRV target

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is optimistic about reaching the 1.6 million target for registered voters in the last week of the exercise. The General Registration of Voters ends on Thursday, August 1.

Police in the Omusati Region are high on the heels of a local pastor from Okandi Village, in the Etayi Constituency, who is alleged to have raped three of his female congregation members, aged between 17, 19, and 24 years. 

Jacob Nangolo "Kaherero" buried

Swapo Party veteran Jacob Nangolo, well known as "Kaherero", was buried at Omonawatjihozu Village at the ELCIN Church Cemetery in the Omusati Region.


Mourners gathered in Ongolonongeyama Village for a memorial service to pay tribute to the late Jacob Nangolo, who died on May 24.

Suspect in the Otjomuise Shopping Centre robbery arrested

A suspect in the violent robbery at the Otjomuise Shopping Centre in May has been arrested in the Omusati Region.

Andreas Shaanika, who is believed to have been part of the robbery, appeared at a northern magistrate's court.

Ministry of Veterans Affairs called to speed up payments of projects

A veteran of the liberation struggle, Mathew Shivute, from Amaupa Village in the Omusati Region, has appealed to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs to speed up the payment of their projects.

Shivute argued that some of the veterans are ageing and want to benefit from the project during their lifetime.

Pelagia Eelu conferred an official funeral

President Hage Geingob has conferred an official funeral on the late Pelagia Eelu, who died in a Windhoek hospital on May 4.

Eelu was a supporter of the country's liberation struggle, with her house serving as an operational base for PLAN combatants in the 1980s.
