The National Unity Democratic Organisation (NUDO) Gobabis Municipality Councillor, Elvire Theron, has resigned with immediate effect.

This was confirmed by the town mayor, Melba Tjozongoro.

Tjozongoro says Theron sent a letter of resignation to the Chief Executive Officer.

SWANU of Namibia will prioritise unemployment, poverty, public health, education, and rural economy once elected into power.

This was shared by the party's president, Evilastus Kaaronda, during the official launch of the party manifesto and a regional conference held at Gobabis over the weekend.

Some residents of Gobabis are camping at the town's municipal head office, waiting for the local authority leadership to receive their petition.

Workers of the Gobabis Municipality staged a demonstration demanding that the council investigate financial status, progress on capital projects, maladministration, lack of good governance, favouritism, and unfair labour practices affecting development at Gobabis. 

The late Senior Traditional Councillor of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority, Usiel Kambirongo, was laid to rest at the Ozombuzovindinda Cultural Heritage site in the Otjinene Constituency. In accordance with his wishes, Kambirongo was buried in a rare standing position, facing east.

The leader of the Ovambanderu Traditional Authority has called on traditional leaders to become catalysts in promoting cultural activities to restore traditional norms and preserve cultures.

The Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Carl Schlettwein, has commended the efforts and dedication shown by the Katuuo family at Orevia village for setting up a garden project to address food security and job creation. 

Drilling of additional water boreholes in rural areas, land reform projects, and drought subsidy provisions were among some issues that were raised by leaders and community members in the Omaheke Region.

The Omaheke Region has made some strides in terms of economic advancement, social progression, and human capital development despite challenges.

This was stated during the governor's State of the Region Address.

The Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka, has called on school leadership in the Omaheke Region to lay a strong foundation at the primary school level and improve teaching and learning strategies.
