Strong winds and heavy rainfall have caused damage to more than 10 households at Onderombapa, in the Aminuis Constituency. 

The hailstorm left some family members homeless. 

Some members of the Gobabis Management Committee expressed dismay, saying they feel undermined by fellow councillors as decisions taken at meetings are not implemented timely.

This, they say, delays proposed development plans. 

Leaders in the Omaheke Region have advised the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform to revise the resettlement qualifying criteria in the Resettlement Policy. 

The leaders are of the view that the criteria fall short of addressing the pressing need for resettlement for agricultural purposes.

A group of young residents in Otjinene, Omaheke Region, has embarked on a leather project with the aim of empowering themselves and creating jobs for residents.

The group is focusing more on making leather shoes, seat covers, and saddles.

Due to poor rainfall in the catchments, Gobabis residents will now experience water rationing.

This has affected water sources like Otjivero Dam, which supplies water to Gobabis.

The Acting Deputy Education Director in the Omaheke Region, Eliakim Kavari, has called upon learners to prioritise their education.

Kavari made this remark about last year's academic results, where the region remained at the bottom of the national ranking statistics. 

Gobabis Primary School is mobilising funds to construct an assembly hall. Currently, assemblies are conducted in the open.

The Operative Secretary of the Landless People's Movement (LPM), Dawid Eigub, says there is a need for the party to connect with all its members and establish the developmental challenges they face.

Eigub made the remark after an engagement with the community of Witvlei in the Okorukambe constituency.

The Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare (MGEPESW) is reviving the regional Gender Permanent Task Force committee at Gobabis. 

Lack of value addition to the livestock subsector, inadequate access to potable water, poor network coverage, and rural electrification are some of the key areas that need attention to address regional development in the Omaheke Region.
