Vice Chairperson of the Junior National Council (JNC) Loini Nangolo has called on the government to invest and upgrade water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure at schools and provide adequate funding for maintenance.

Delivering a motivational address at the Junior National Council, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Phillipus Katamelo, said that the motion on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is not merely a service delivery issue but is fundamental to children's rights, education, health, and equality.

The 4th Junior National Council opened debates with the motion urging the government to invest in child-responsive, climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure in schools and communities across the country. 

Junior Mayor of the City of Windhoek, Kovii Kambai, has called for stronger youth participation and practical action on water, sanitation and hygiene in schools and public spaces. 

The Tsumkwe Secondary School and Tsumkwe Primary School also joined the nation in celebrating the Day of the African Child.
 

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah wants greater investment in children, stronger protection of their rights and universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene as Namibia commemorates the Day of the African Child and the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto Uprising.

With an increase in cholera cases in some SADC countries, the Directorate of Health in the Otjozondjupa Region has launched an awareness campaign to educate communities about the disease.

The campaign targets schools, rural areas, and peri-urban areas identified as at-risk communities.
