The transatlantic slave trade may have ended centuries ago, but its scars continue to shape societies across Africa and the diaspora.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has handed over the Kaptein's House to the Baster community in Rehoboth. 

The building served as the residence of the late Baster leader, Hans Diergaardt, who died in 1998.

Kunene Governor Marius Sheya says land reform is crucial for equitable land distribution, addressing historical injustice, and promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development.

He made this remark in his State of the Region Address.
